Caring and Sharing
Do you often find yourself feeling sad or anxious? Join us at North Hills Community Baptist Church as we work to support one another through these tough daily feelings. Each week a group member will share something with us that has helped them work through these difficult emotions in a positive way. Contact Rachel Fortwangler firstname.lastname@example.org.
C.O.R.E Women’s Ministry
C.O.R.E stands for Courageous, Overjoyed, Righteous, Encouragers. With Christ as our C.O.R.E we help women build friendships, encourage women in spiritual growth, and reach out to women in our community with the love of Jesus. Our CORE women’s group meets throughout the year, and we would love to have you join us! Stay tuned to the Communicator and Bulletin for dates and times on upcoming events.
We invite you to join the couples group! Open to couples of all ages and family sizes. We meet monthly for a time of fun and fellowship or acts of service with other couples. We will decide together as a group what activities or service we participate in. We look forward to having fun in 2020! Contact Jennifer Duncan email@example.com or Josh Duncan firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Green Team is a group of people who like to dig in the dirt. We are in charge of the church’s mission garden. We till, plant, weed and pick the produce grown and take it to the North Hills Community Food Bank at St. Paul’s Church on Ferguson Road. If you are interested in joining us, contact Joanne Hopkins-Budd email@example.com or Richard Hopkins firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pleasant Valley Shelter
Pleasant Valley Shelter meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month to prepare a meal to serve to the men who stay at the Northside Common Ministries shelter. You can help by donating food for the meal, helping prepare the meal, or helping serve the meal. You can choose to do one, two or all three. You do not need to help each month but you may sign up as your schedule permits. If you are interested, please contact Amy Mendicino email@example.com.
Prayer Group meets most Sundays following worship in the Pastoral Care Office room 4. We pray for the joys and concerns from that morning, and we continue to pray for those requests at home. New pray-ers are always welcome. You may join us after church or contact Mary Michalek firstname.lastname@example.org.
THRIVE is a community of people who desire to practice hospitality by connecting newly arrived immigrants and refugees, via E-crowdsourcing, with neighbors in the Pittsburgh community. The idea is to help provide needed items as a gesture of welcome and a practical example of Christian love. Some of our recent activities have been to prepare and distribute THRIVE Welcome Bags (cinch sacks which are given to children arriving at Pgh International Airport), collect needed clothing and children’s items for newly arrived refugees, make monetary donations to help with rent or other unexpected expenses, and plan and implement Supper Clubs with proceeds benefitting an immigrant family. Please contact Pauline Spring to learn more about this worthwhile and rewarding ministry, email@example.com.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study
The Tuesday Bible study group has been meeting for over 25 years at NHCBC. It is a great way to enhance your week, enjoy fellowship, and through the variety of topics studied, enrich your walk with the Lord. We meet every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Cafe. Contact Linda Wagner firstname.lastname@example.org.
Walking in Faith
Let’s plan to walk and enjoy God’s creation. Walks will be scheduled in March through July. We’ll schedule 2 regular walks per week, one at Hartwood Acres and one at North Park. Have an idea for a great place to walk? Please share it. Let’s traipse the road less traveled together. It will make all the difference! Contact Beth Spence email@example.com.
Young Adult Life
We meet the third Monday evening each month from 6:00 to 9:30ish p.m. in the Church Café. We gather for food, discussion, and games. You are welcome to bring a game and/or food to share. High school seniors and college and career individuals from our community are welcome. Contact Kendra Detwiler at firstname.lastname@example.org.
