Security Committee Proposal

Security Committee Proposal

August 14, 2020

Dear Church Family,

Eric, our girls and I really miss seeing you in church and hope you are well.  As an update, I would like to let you know that Church Council has continued to meet regularly through Zoom meetings.  Additionally, I would like to express how blessed we are by our Pastor’s leadership and by our Church Staff, Boards and Committees who seek God’s leading and continue their good work in this time of being physically apart.

This letter accompanies a video from Mark Mendicino, Chair of our Security Committee, explaining the progress of the Committee in response to a detailed security assessment completed in January of 2020 by Michael J. Spurr, Homeland Security/Law Enforcement Coordinator of Allegheny County Emergency Services.  The Committee is making progress towards the recommendations provided from this assessment.  The Committee submitted a proposal for an Electronic Exterior Door Locking system at our Council meeting on August 9th.  So far, our church has received 2/3 of the funds for this system through two donations.  The final 1/3 of the funds will be pursued privately.

A motion at our August Council meeting was passed endorsing this project.  In a normal, non-pandemic scenario, we would then have the Church membership discuss and vote on the use of donated funds and the plan to raise the remaining funds.  Since we are not able to meet for a congregational vote, we are asking that members view Mark’s video presentation and provide any feedback you may have to Council.  If feedback is favorable, Council would like to have this system installed before the end of 2020.

Thank you for viewing the video.  Please provide any feedback by Friday August 28th to:

Mark Mendicino (markjmendicino@gmail.com, Security Committee Chair), Lori Tissue (tish@zbzoom.net, Church Moderator) or Beth Spence (secretary@nhcbc.com, NHCBC Secretary).

Sincerely,

Lori Tissue, Moderator
