Things were always better ‘back there’. Even heading toward the problem land, with God providing all the way, the Israelites said to one another, ‘why can’t things be like there were back then?’ Our minds create memories that glorify the past, and make us aware of the anxious uncertainty of the future. To go forward requires faith.
